Zoom Q4 audio-centric camcorder unveiled

Zoom has introduced and released a new camcorder in the form of Zoom Q4 which target at musicians wanting their audio to be just as good as their video. Zoom Q4 is an ultra-compact provides a perfect pair of high-definition video with high-resolution audio. It can be used for a variety of applications, including streaming video, online blogging, live concert recording, location shoots, electronic news gathering, and documenting important events.
The Q4 records directly to SDXC cards up to 128GB, in a variety of HD, WVGA, AAC and WAV file formats, up to 1080p/30fps video and 24-bit/96k audio. It offers a wealth of advanced features such as a detachable full-color LCD and a built-in speaker for instant monitoring, as well as a stereo mic/line-level input and line-level/headphone output with dedicated volume control. A built-in 120˚ X/Y microphone ensures stunning stereo with wide coverage and crystal clarity, and a three-position Mic Gain switch with Auto-Gain control and Peak LED help prevent signal overload.
The Q4 is compatible with three prong action camera mounts and comes with a supplied tripod mount, hairy windscreen and low cut filter, allowing use both indoors and outdoors. An optional mic stand mount and guitar clamp adds the ability to shoot video from unusual angles such as a band’s live perspective onstage.
Connectivity includes a mini-HDMI output, miniUSB, external stereo microphone input, and a headphone jack. The Q4 can also be used as a USB camera for live-streaming or even Skype, or indeed as a USB microphone, including direct into Apple's iPad if you have the Camera Connection Kit.
Zoom has also designed their new video camera to be compatible with three prong action camera mounts and is supplied with a tripod mount, hairy windscreen and low cut filter. Zoom explains a little more in their press release :
Equipped with sensing options that adapt to various lighting situations, the Q4 offers user- selectable viewing angles and an HDMI video output for connection to HDTVs. A USB port enables live streaming and allows the Q4 to send digital data to DAWs or video editors such as iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or the included HandyShare software. The supplied rechargeable Li-Ion battery provides battery life of more than 2 hours and can be recharged either via USB or with the use of an optional AC adapter.”
