Asus recently launched its small form factor PCs looks more convenient and compact offers similar to the traditional PC out in the market – Asus Chromebox.
Chromebox measures 4.88 inches square and 1.65 inches high. Inside is one of two possible Intel CPUs for the U.S. market, both fourth-generation (Haswell): a core i3-4010U or a Celeron 2955U, with 2GB or 4GB of memory plus integrated Intel HD graphics. A core i7 CPU will be available in other markets.
This device will be powered by Chrome OS, but unlike your Chromebook laptop, it does not come with a monitor, keyboard, or mouse. You might cal it a small PC. The Chromebox will offer access to Google’s products as well as services like YouTube, Hulu Plus, and Netflix.
Chromebox will offer is a 16GB SSD, plus 100GB of storage on Google Drive that will be free for the first two years (just be ready when that deadline comes). Connectivity will include Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n dual-band Wi-Fi, a generous four USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 4.0, and an SD card reader.
Other features of the Chromebox include how it is a fan-less design, meaning that when it is up and running it will be relatively quiet. It will also come with 100GB of Google Drive space that will be valid for 2 years, after which users will have to continue their subscription in order to keep their storage. For those interested in getting their hands on the device, the ASUS Chromebox will be available in March and will be priced starting at $179.
With easy out-of-the-box setup, integrated virus and malware protection and feature-enhancing updates, ASUS Chromebox starts up in seconds to get you to your favorite websites and apps instantly. And why a box? Because with a box it houses a processor powerful enough for ultrafast multitasking performance in Chrome OS and the connectivity options to choose your own screen size, connect to multiple displays at once and even attach to any VESA-mountable monitor or HD TV. All this starting at only $179, ASUS Chromebox is the always-new computer that just makes sense.
